I just love this digi stamp from The Stamping Boutique! I’ve been practicing with my Copic markers on this image and each time it comes out a little different. That’s just fine with me as I gain more familiarity with the markers and how they shade.

Back to School Blog Hop!

Hello blog hoppers!

Welcome to the Back to School Blog Hop! It officially starts at Michelle Perkett Studios Challenge Blog but if this is your first stop, just hop along the list of blogs until you end up back here!

What are you searching for you ask? There are 9 letters out there that will spell a secret word! There is 1 blog that has a letter that you will use twice. Don’t worry, she’ll let you know that you’ll need to do that when you get there!

We have a hint for you: it’s a School Subject!

As soon you collect the letters and unscramble them so that you know the word, go to one of the Communities: Paper Craft Planet, Crafter’s Digital Art Center, SNR-The Card Universe and send Michelle a personal message with the word in it. Don’t forget to include your email address in your email to Michelle! She needs to know how to contact you if you win!

If you’re not a member of one of those Communities, you can join any one of them for free. If you get a message saying you can’t email Michelle until you’re friends with her, just ask to be friends and she’ll respond as soon as she can. You’ll be able to then send her a message. Friday Night Lights

Whimsie Doodles has a weekly Wednesday Challenge that I had the pleasure of coming across recently! This is the first time that I’m playing along and the challenge is to use your school colors on a card.

My school mascot was a “Saint” as I went to a Catholic High School and our colors were gold and green, well really yellow and green but gold sounds so much more regal!

I used “Jelly Present” from the Shell-abration set at Whimsie Doodles and colored him/her with Copics. I had fun blending the greens and yellow-greens with some of the yellows. A touch of glitter for the party atmosphere and it’s done! Click on the picture for a larger view.

Random Act of Kindness

Otherwise known as a “RAK”.

Have you ever received one? I have and it’s a great ray of sunshine when you open the mailbox to open a totally unexpected card from some random person!

There are lists that you can get on to give and receive these RAKs, in fact, we have one on the FL Stampers Yahoo group. It’s fun and makes you feel good to send one along to someone when they least expect it.

Here is one such RAK that I’m sending to the Mom of a teenager on one of the Yahoo groups that I’m on. Her Mom is actually on the list, but recently came to need some urgent care. So, the daughter has put out a request for a ‘card shower’. Isn’t that a cute thing to do?

See, there is still hope and good will out there!

A combination of stamps

For this card, I used a combination of Ippity and Unity stamps. The little whispy angel is the Unity image and the saying is from one of our newer Ippity sets. The embossed metal is from one of the TENsecond Studio molds and running it through the Big Shot Express. The metal is Barn Red also from TENseconds. The top of the embossed design is sanded, leaving the silver base color metal to shine through while maintaining the pretty red color in the embossed features.

A bit of Ippity

Here’s a selection of cards that I’ve posted on my other blog using Ippity Stamps that I thought you may like to see here. I’ve been incorporating more colored metal embellishments on my cards using the TENseconds Studio products combined with Sizzix and Cuttlebug embossing folders. I demo this technique and many others at the Stampfest shows in Florida for Marco’s Paper. There is so much that can be done with the metal and molds that I really want to incorporate it more into my scrapping and stamping. Stay tuned!

Under an Umbrella?

Ah yes, summer showers. So needed for the green stuff to stay hydrated during the summer heat and sun. Here in Florida, it usually rains every day or pretty frequently due to the moisture from the water surrounding us on both sides. It’s fine with me! What’s nice is that it usually drives down the humidity, especially when you’re near to the water like me.

Here’s a card that shares the beauty of rubber stamping with a peaceful thought – good for sending to a friend for no occasion at all! I’ve done a bit of paper piecing with the girly girl to make her outfit match her umbrella.
