This time, we’re going under the sea to those mythical mermaid creatures. Gretchen Raisch-Baskin is the artist that has added her own special touch to Magical Mermaids, the 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of red rubber stamps. I had a lot of fun using Copics markers to color in the details of the ocean and mermaids. It was a great opportunity to practice blending, which you’ll probably be able to tell here and there.

Take a look and I hope you like them!

Believe it or not, I think my scrapbook mojo might be coming back! Ok, not on this blog entry, but I’m working on some things that will develop into scrapbook pages!

I’ve been a fan of Mojo Monday and this week’s sketch was a blast! It’s a card sketch site which could be converted to a scrapbook page. I’ve never tried, but why not right?

This card contains a lot of P K Glitz products and a Preferred Partner’s products – My Stamp Box. Cute and great for embossing! MSB is a clear stamp company that has each stamp set in its own clear CD-like case! There’s a clear sticker on the outside of the case which makes it super easy to match up the stamps with for easy storage. I like it! The images stamp nice and clear as you can see in the thin lines in the saying and image. Nice job MSB!

Below are some of my recent projects using solely Ippity Stamps. I’ll be starting all sorts of fun programs over there, so I’ll tune you in here to keep you in the loop.

There are so many die cut systems out there in today’s crafting world that you get a great choice to pick from depending on what you’re looking to do with it. I have a Spellbinders Wizard that I really enjoy using in many ways and with lots of dies. It takes practically any die out there – so versatile!

Here are some new projects using my Wizard and some BasicGrey stash. The first is a topiary using the Eva Collection. All of the flowers are die cut as well as the butterflies.

This next one is a layout using Wassail and die cut metal. I love the look! I used the ornament die as an embossing tool with the Coredinations cardstock for the embellishment along the right side of the photo.

Cards are super fun to put die cut on since many of them are the perfect size for an A2 card (1/2 of an 8 1/2×11). This one was for my good friend Chris’ birthday using Scenic Route paper.

The last project is another card, but this one has a lot of stamping on it. Spellbinders also has stamps! It’s really cool when they match the dies for a great ensemble. The circular chipboard is double embossed and the acetate is stamped for a clear layered look. The paper is from Periphery.

I should come up with a clever t-shirt saying that has something to do with a love of cardstock! There’s just nothing better than a wonderful solid color of paper with a texture. Easy to go with everything, yet sometimes overlooked, cardstock is as necessary to scrapbooking as adhesive, don’t you think? My ode to cardstock really lies with Prism Papers, the wonderful makers of Prismatics and now Seaside cardstock textures and colors. I must admit that I also love the new entry to the cardstock playing field, Core’dinations. That fabulous textured with a color core cardstock. I MUST use that more too – good stuff indeed.

We’ve reviewed both of these cardstock lines at ScrapFriends with accolades for both. They are different thus both are needed! Yes, I said needed.

Here are some projects using the Seaside Collection from Prism. I can’t wait to use it more! The layout uses a die from Spellbinders to cut the corners out of metal. The stamps are from Starving Artistamps and Inque Boutique and the photos are tinted using Distress Ink. The blanket stitching along the sides of the boot paper is actually a stamp. I’m good at lining up the stamps aren’t I? lol, I love the texture on this page.

This card was created using Stamp Camp images and PK Glitz embossing powder, oh and another Spellbinders die for the label frame. FUN!

It seems that I’m never short of ideas and it’s a good thing that I have a lot of beach photos! The photographer for this layout is Fred – thanks for the great view in Daytona Beach, Florida. Great lighting and a great view of the beach, water and condos. Thanks Fred! Check out the review for this collection at ScrapFriends.

A recent challenge on ScrapFriends gave me the push I needed to try Inchies. They are 1×1 pieces of art – each one can tell a story or a bunch of them can be put together like a mosaic. I opted for the “bigger picture” effect so here’s the result:

The Inchies were a piece of BasicGrey Two Scoops paper trimmed down for the card front then into the 1×1 squares. The tulip is from Starving Artistamps and was embossed with PK Glitz Mint Julep Embossing Powder on vellum. The coloring comes from Twinkling H2O’s and is oh-so shimmery!

The background is a piece of BasicGrey Sugared paper. The Inchies come from a layered background starting with the Lil Squares BG with the Orchid on top then trimmed down for the card front and into the 1×1 squares. All stamps are from Starving Artistamps.

This card brings a quilt effect to the front. Pieces of BasicGrey’s Two Scoops were cut and stamped then pieced together for the effect. The Orchid was stamped and covered with Crackle Accents to bring the flower’s veining to life! I love using Spellbinders Nestabilities for the mat and corner.

This card was stamped and embossed similarly to the Tulip Card above with the exception of the embossing powder was Inque Boutique’s Lilac.

BasicGrey’s Periphery Collection just seemed to match the theme of this card, so I went with it! The grapes were stamped and embossed with PK Glitz embossing powder in Gilded Grape Leaf and Gilded Grape. I colored the grape image with dye inks using a Blurred Vision Watercolor effect. The Spellbinders Nestabilities once again came in handy for the sentiment.
